Massachusetts Military Family Relief Fund

The Massachusetts Military Family Relief Fund has been established as part of the "Welcome Home Bill", a comprehensive bill for Massachusetts Veterans, Servicemembers and their families, signed into law by Governor Mitt Romney on November 11, 2005 (Veteran's Day).

As a result of this new law, a voluntary check box will appear on the Massachusetts state income tax form to allow taxpayers to donate directly to the Massachusetts Military Family Relief Fund. If you would like to help Massachusetts National Guard and Reserve Soldiers, please make a donation to the Massachusetts Military Family Relief Fund in Section 32, Item E of your 2005 Massachusetts Resident Income Tax Form (see graphic below).

You may also make donations directly to the Fund.

All donations will be administered by the Friends of the National Guard and Reserve Families Foundation, which provides need-based grants to members of the Massachusetts Army and Air National Guard, and all Massachusetts residents serving in the U.S. Armed Forces Reserve components, who are experiencing financial hardship due to activation or extended military commitment.

The Massachusetts Military Family Relief Fund legislation was first introduced in January, 2005 by State Senator Pamela Resor of Acton. This bill was co-sponsored in the House by State Senator Karen Spilka of Ashland and also supported by State Rep Matthew Patrick of East Falmouth and State Senator Dianne Wilkerson of Boston.
