About Us
The Friends of National Guard and Reserve Families was established in 2003, formed by personal donations and foundation grants. Our mission is to assist members of the Massachusetts Army and Air National Guard, and Massachusetts residents serving in the U.S. Armed Forces Reserve components who are suffering financial hardship due to activation or extended military commitment.
We are an independent, non-profit 501C3 corporation. We also are governed by a volunteer board of directors and work closely with the military Family Support Offices, Unit Commanders and Veteran's Groups.
The Friends of National Guard and Reserve Families Foundation takes great pride in the heroic skills and loyalty of our Massachusetts citizen Soldiers. That is why we strive to support our Soldiers and their families as they make the difficult transition from civilian life to military life. Not only do they have to deal with separation from loved ones, but also sudden and unexpected financial challenges.
It's estimated that as many as one-third of families report a decrease in income as a result of deployment. With record levels of Soldiers and Airmen being called to duty from Massachusetts, many families have been left behind at home, unable to meet monthly expenses or pay for emergencies. And even more deployments are expected.
Since our inception, we've helped many military families in Massachusetts with financial assistance through our application process.
Needs range from routine household expenses, to special activities, to emergency circumstances. To download an application for assistance, please click here
